Batgirl (2011-) #36
The art continues to be a highlight for me. I love how all of the characters have different faces and facial expressions. In the last run, some of the faces all blended together. The use of color is great. The clothing designs are gorgeous. Barbara’s hair looks way better in these two issues than it has this entire series. Frankie is hilarious, exposing Babs like that in front of Jeremy. I also adore how Barbara’s mind is used here. She’s putting her detective skills that she got from her father and her eidetic memory to good use. We actually get to see her do the leg work and be a detective unlike in previous issues where she just somehow knew the answers because of “detective work” that was all done off panel. It’s also really nice to have Dinah here to give the book a familiarity in its transitional period. I enjoyed what Brenden Fletcher did with Black Canary and the Pink Power Ranger, so far I’m enjoying what he’s doing here.
