Detective Comics (1937-) #62
It’s amazing how great these early Detective Comics are and just as amazing to be able to read them all, something I had somewhat written off as bound collections never have everything and most I’ve seen in person have been slabbed. The stories and characters are so rich and developed and are already the heros and villains I love. In addition to having a fair amount of murder and violence(I know the '40s were full of thick skin tough people, yet I still picture mothers and S.J. warriors of the time fighting this kind of glorification), the dialogue is bafflingly not nearly as campy as a lot of bronze age books (constant unnecessary thought bubbles of, “Wow! Batman’s so great, I hope I can be great too, oh gee!”). Definitely going to read each and every one, then on to Action Comics!
