Detective Comics (2016-) #947
I didn’t like this arc that much. It wasn’t terrible, there were so e good moments. But I think the deconstructing Batman angle is overdone it. There are some good stories asking Batman to confront his effects on society, but I think it is pretty well covered ground at this point. At the end of the day we’re reading Batman, dark knight vigilante, its fun escapism and attempting to deconstruct Batmans place in his fictional world is of limited value. We all know he’s not going to pack it up and hang up the cowl, so its kind of a toothless concept. Nothing much comes out of it. It doesn’t change the readers perspective - we still want to read Batman - and it has no effect on the character. Like I said, there have been some good stories on thus topic, but I think its like the siren song for Batman writers. Every writer follows it at some point and most end up on the rocks. I would put thus arc in that category.
