Why does MoS get so much hate from critics ?

One thing that really gets me heated is when critics somehow bash MoS. I just watched it for a 12th time and that film will always be great to me. It’s actually my favourite DCEU film so far and I’ll even put it ahead of most MCU films only about 3 MCU films are better to me. I also see most of the fans love it too and call it underrated so what is it critics dislike about this film?

Beacuse when people have an idea already in their head about how something “should” be, they take issue with it. Man of Steel is my favorite Superman movie and probably my favorite movie in the DCEU

I did not dislike Man of Steel, but it was not my preferred version of Superman. Still, worth watching though. I would watch sequels, if there ever get around to making one… that was not turn it into a Batman movie.

Critics are snobs and dissect every little thing then take every piece way too serious while using fancy big words

It happens all the time. A critic’s opinion should have no more value than your own. You should pick what you like and dislike. I loved the movie.

I often disagree with the movie critics, just as many people disagree with my thoughts about those movies. We all have our own likes and dislikes, and perhaps, that is how it should be.

Just as long as we call all disagree without coming to blows.

Sometimes movie critics are right sometimes they're way off. Their job is like two point out the problems with the movie, "criticize" the movie. Some things that the critics see as problems other people see as "a refreshing new take on an old subject."
Take "Happytime Murders" for example chama critics didn't seem to like it, I thought it was hilarious.

There should have been a Man of Steel 2.

Long story short, people want to complain just to complain.

MOS is fine.

I thought it was great the day I saw it. I’ve actually only seen it once, like in 3rd grade. I did not know superman snapped zod’s neck until recently when watching a movie on it. I remembered Superman was shooting his heat vision at zod’s and then superman’s overpowered zod and killed him. To this day I still love the movie. Critics are just people who get paid for reviewing and everyone has a different point of view. Don’t make their opinion matter more than yours.

I have no answer for you. I LOVED IT!! To me this was the best Superman movie EVER ok not as good as the death of Superman but by far the best live action movie of Superman .

I really enjoy the film, I always have fun imitating General Zod, “I’ll find him, I’LL FIND HIM!!!” It was the movie I wanted to see, Superman punch the badguys. I think the movie had a great cast, I do admit I was disappointed that they didn’t make a stand alone Man of Steel sequel, Superman has so many enemies, I would’ve like to see Superman fight Brainiac, Metallo, Lobo, Bizarro or Parasite, we have plenty of Lex Luthor, enough of him, that’s my point of view. I also did like the theme music. :slightly_smiling_face:

Eh haters gonna hate. Luckily there really is a superman story out there for everyone. Light hearted to dark DC has told many stories over the years. Tone changes with the tide. You have to have darkness and the light. I’d really hate if things always stayed the same we’d have run out of stories eons ago.

I will hate on one scene the NECK SNAP???

I will hate on one scene the NECK SNAP???

I’m pretty certain MOS gets a lot of hate because of the non-stop destruction porn in the last 2 acts of the movie.

People complained about the lack of action in Superman Returns. They certainly can’t complain about MOS’s bounty of action.

The thing that’s grinds my gears about that film, is that damn tornado scene

I still like Man of Steel. But i can understand why critics don’t like it. The editing and scene transitions are not the best. Snyder’s plots became more scattered after MoS, but you can definitely see some of the story starting to unravel in his one. And really the nonstop destruction at the end is really drastic. But even with those flaws I found it entertaining.

I loved the non-stop destruction at the end from a storytelling sensibility. Two aliens that are effectively gods to us are going absolutely ape**** at one another (one to destroy, the other to defend) and it’s a grand display of their power and just what a threat the one that means us harm is. It’s also a grand display to show how powerful the one that means to protect us is.

If they Superman and Zod didn’t engage in a fierce battle, people would complain. Putting it in out in the middle of nowhere would have generated complaints too. “Put it in the city and show the consequences of their actions.” they’d say. Well, they did.
